Welcome to Blue Paradise as
we call our small Dive - Center
Update: Monday, May 28, 2007
Bali offers some of the best
diving that you can find on the Blue Planet. There are Mola Mola (sunfish)
off Nusa Penida and Mimpang from July to October. And these ocean dwellers
are seen regularly and they are relatively easy to approach. They come
close to the reefs to meet cleaner fish who feed on the parasites that
cover their skin.
There are places with regular shark encounters (Mimpang e.g.) and Nusa
Penidas waters offer some of the finest hard coral gardens one can imagine.
The wreck of the USS Liberty is home of an abundance of fishes who are
almost tame. Impressive are the bumphead parrotfish or the old barracuda.
The old guy is easy to approach. He looks dangerous with sharp teeth.
But as far as I know he has never bitten a diver. The bumpheads are
social. It is fun to see them roaming around the wreck. On a photo it
is good to have a diver close to them to see the impressive size of
these fish.
I almost forgot to mention the Mantapoint off Nusa Penida where sightings
of the big rays are (almost) guaranteed. Nusa Penidas Cristal Bay is
were sightings of sunfish are frequent when the water is cold.
To reach Menjangan, a small island, off the Northwest coast of Bali
close to Java, takes a three and a half hours drive and a twenty minutes
boat ride. Even this boat ride is very nice with some wind blowing over
the blue waters and the white sand ahead, at the small beach, where
divers have lunch after the first dive. The coral groth is good, the
dropoffs spectacular. Enjoy to fly above the abyss! There have been
sightings of whale sharks around Menjangan. I have never seen one. But
if you are lucky… you might even have a chance to take a photo.

long dive expeditions.
